Linda Mae McEachern
August 5, 1952 – December 14, 2021
Linda Mae McEachern passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2021 at the age of 69.
Linda, who moved to Huntsville in 1978, was well known for her passion for community, volunteering, and advocacy.
She had a very caring and compassionate personality, a great sense of humour, and was wonderfully creative. She loved arts and crafts, and also wrote a poem published by Community Living Ontario. She cherished spending time with family and friends, or catching up with them by phone. She liked to travel, too, and was twice able to visit the Dominican Republic.
She valued her independence, and enjoyed working and volunteering in her community. She loved her job at Hunters Bay Radio and looked forward to it each week. And she was an avid volunteer for many community causes and organizations. She always gave her time to support Community Living Huntsville events and activities, including the children’s Christmas toy drive, fundraisers, and annual Remembering Friends memorial tributes, as just one example.
Linda was also a determined self-advocate and knew when to use her strong voice to speak up for herself and others. She was a member of People First, and served on the Community Living Huntsville board of directors for a number of terms, too. She made a difference not only in her life, but in the lives of those around her.
The depth of loss we feel in parting with this wonderful community member and friend is indescribable. Our hearts are with her friends and family in this difficult time.
