It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Willard on December 24, 2022, at the Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge at the age of 94. Willard was born on January 14, 1928, to Albert and Sophrona (Willoughby) Canning. He was the brother of seven siblings, Frank, Ralph, Russell Leora, Bertha, Verna and Anita. He is the beloved husband of Ethel Susan (nee Friend) of 73 years. Loving father of nine children, Jeffrey (Mary-Anne) Canning, Danny Canning (dec.), Ellen (Charles Orser) (dec.), (Gary) Snoulten, Carl (Melanie) Canning, Debora (John) George, Wendy Canning, Michael (Phyllis) Canning, Steven (Rhonda) Canning and Nancy Archer. Cherished grandfather of Tyler and Lexi Canning, Kimberley (Paul Fleischer) Orser, Kara-Lynn Orser and Nathan (Missy) Orser, Benjamin (Meagan) George and Rachel Pintos, Jacob Kanis, Jonathan Benedict, Katie (Robert Griffiths) Canning, Jason (Kim) Canning and Shannon (Josh Ostertag) Canning and Whitney Archer. Great-grandfather of Madison and Ethan Fleischer, Miles Orser, Gabriel and Mila Pintos, Charlie, Lucas, and Mavis George, Tucker Lecroix, Tala and Tyson Kanis, Blair and Elliott Griffiths, Landon and Logan MacDonald. Madison Carson and Kenzie Canning and Ava Ostertag. Throughout Willard's life he was a hard-working farmer and worked for CN Rail. In keeping with Willard's wishes, cremation has taken place. No services will take place at this time. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
