Wendy (Beare) Hansen

Wendy Hansen from Huntsville, and formerly of Newmarket, passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospice, on September 4, after a long battle with cancer. As she left us, she was surrounded by those who truly loved and admired her, not to mention nurses who had worked alongside her and experienced her supportive nature.

Wendy was known by all to be a kind, peaceful and gentle person, who always put others before herself. She served with dedication as a compassionate nurse for both York County Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for many years before her retirement.

In her early nursing career she was a devoted single parent, while working work shifts at the hospital.

In 1980, she married Erik Hansen of Newmarket, and the couple moved north to Huntsville.

Wendy loved life, nature and laughing. She had a tremendous compassion for both children and animals and she adored her only grand-daughter, Victoria. She is sadly missed by her husband Erik Hansen as well as: her loving daughter, Amber Welbelove (son-in-law, Gary Pullman); her grand-daughter Victoria MacDonald; and, her loving sisters, Shirley Corner (brother-in-law Richard Corner), Karen Henry (brother-in-law Creighton Henry), Cathy Rennie (brother-in-law Ted Rennie), and brother, Robert Beare, as well as their children, numerous cousins and many dear friends. Wendy's parents - Doris and Stewart Beare - who were well-known in the Newmarket and surrounding areas, have also passed on.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Wendy's favourite charity, the Almaguin All Animal Rescue where she rescued their cat ‘Rhea', and actively supported this charity's purpose.
