ROSS, Rebecca Ruth (nee McEachern)

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our wonderful, intelligent, inspirational, beautiful inside and out, Gammy.  Ruth passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Humber River Hospital, just 10 days shy of her 68th birthday.  Loving wife of 40 years to Charles Ross.  Most amazing mother to Anna Haley (Dave), Murray (Lee) and Amy Aubin (Stephen) and most spectacular Gammy to Harper, Myla, Hallie and Elijah.

Ruth spent 12 years as a councilor for the Township of Lake of Bays. She was an active member of multiple community groups throughout her life including but not limited to Dorset Community Partnership, Township of Lake of Bays Heritage Committee, Girl Guides of Canada, the United Church of Canada, Chair of the Dorset Community Health Hub Committee and so many more. Ruth spent her entire life contributing to her family and community and neither will ever be the same in her absence.

She and her husband spent their lives and raised their children on Paint Lake, and she was proud of being part of the 4th generation of McEacherns on the lake.  Her grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life and the memories she left them in such a short time will be cherished forever. She spent all her free time enriching their lives with her love of the outdoors, Red Chalk, paddling, baking, reading, silliness and family.

Keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  There will be no formal service; however, a celebration of life will be held October 22, 2022 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Lions Camp Dorset.

How can we keep this legacy alive and honour Ruth? The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dorset Community Partnership Fund as that charity will set up a memorial fund focused on the Hub and social/health services in her own community. You can send a cheque to Dorset Community Partnership Fund c/o Collin Reaney, P O Box 158, Dorset, ON P0A 1E0, or contact us by email for more information at - collinreaney@aol.com
