It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of a truly remarkable person who brought joy and love to all she met. The depth of her being is more than words can explain. Roxanne Catherine Markle passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital with Jeff, Tina and Jody by her side. She was born on August 12, 1974 to parents Gordon Markle and Bernadette (nee Reid) Markle-Preston in Huntsville, Ontario. Loving step-daughter to Wayne Preston, beloved sister of Jeffrey (Christina) Markle and cherished niece to Jody (Scott) McIntyre. Roxanne will be missed by her nephews Riley Markle, Kyle Martin, Mitchell Martin and niece Sirena Dawson, and her extended family at Christian Horizons, including her housemates Diane, Patrick, David and Karolyn. She will be cherished in the hearts of her many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her mother, Bernadette Preston, father Gordon Markle, grandparents Verna and Cecil Reid and great-grandmother Wava “Granny” Smith.

Nicknamed Rox, Roxy, Bubba Cita and Dolly by her family, Roxanne’s favourite times of the year were the seasons in which she could sit in the gazebo during visits with her mom, Wayne, Jeff and Tina. There, she enjoyed holding hands while feeling the wind, blowing through her hair. She adored being outside enjoying the sunshine with her friends. She was at peace listening to soft music and, if you were lucky enough, you would hear her sing and witness the pure joy that she was feeling. She enjoyed day trips with friends and family, seeing and experiencing new things, and she loved her vacations at WindReach. She will be forever loved and never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Baptist Church, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Christian Horizons.
