Rex Malloy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend Rex Malloy (Johnston) on February 12, 2025 at 87 years of age.  Rex Beverly John Malloy was born December 18, 1937 in Huntsville Ontario.  He was predeceased by his mother Evelyn Scott, his step-father Arthur M Johnston, stepmother Dorothy Johnston and sisters Joan Malloy and Maxine Malloy.

Rex was a town icon, known and loved by many. He was part of Community Living Huntsville and through this amazing organization he made countless friends with staff and fellow members alike.

Rex was such a hard worker, he worked at Deerhurst and The Cottage Bar and Grill in the kitchen and was a valued staff member. When Rex wasn’t at work, and following his retirement, he was a passionate volunteer. If there was an event or cause that needed help Rex was there. His closet was overflowing with crew and volunteer t-shirts that he wore proudly.

Rex’s true passion was hockey. This was shown starting with his time as volunteer with Huntsville’s Junior Hockey league, all the way back to the early 80’s with the Huntsville Huskies Junior A team. In retirement you couldn’t keep him away from an Otters game. He was a staple at the arena.

Despite Rex’s challenges through life he brought joy and smiles to all whom were blessed to know him. He will be missed. 

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Active Living Centre from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
