EDWARDS, Norma Clara Elizabeth (Beacom)
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with family at her side at Hospice Huntsville at the age of 93. Norma is the beloved wife of the late Alan Edwards who predeceased her April 30, 2011. She leaves behind her loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren; David (Laura) Edwards of Caledon; Sandra (Ian Marshall) of Port Credit - Madison and Olivia; Susan (Robert Dean) of Huntsville - Jordon and Holly (Jordan) - Cali and Lilly; Sally (Rick Pelletier) of Huntsville - Candice (Jerad) and Thomas (Rachel); Roger Edwards of Upper Musquodobit - Brooke (Colin) - Euen, Emily and Paige. She leaves behind her sister, Carol. Predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Ina Beacom, and her brother Keith Beacom.
Norma's career started as a secretary at Ferranti, U.K electrical engineering and equipment firm. She and Alan started their family and Norma took on raising the children in her role as homemaker. Norma worked at Victoria & Grey Trust Company as Administrative Secretary for the upstart office in Huntsville which expanded over the years to Scotia Bank where Norma's career developed into a financial advisor, which she was proud of. Norma hosted many office parties at the family cottage that often involved her children taking her work colleagues waterskiing and the family dog Sport taking a turn on the surfboard behind the boat for the entertainment of the partiers. As a young girl, Norma enjoyed acting in the theatre through her church. She loved to read and work on the Toronto Star's Saturday crossword puzzle. Norma's summers were spent at the cottage on Lake Rosseau since she was a young girl. Norma and Alan moved from Willowdale to Huntsville to raise their children and every summer at the end of the school year would pack up and move to the cottage where they visited and hosted family, friends and work colleagues. Norma loved and adored her family and was very proud of everyone who was part of it. Norma will be dearly missed and always fondly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation being held at Billingsley Funeral Home, Huntsville on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at All Saints Anglican Cemetery with reception to follow at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice.
