Muriel Jean (McNeice) Tambosso

March 26, 1944 — August 1, 2023

Huntsville, Ontario

On a bright, sun-filled Sunday, March 26, 1944, Muriel “Jean” was born to Lillian (née Dunbar) and John McNeice in Toronto and passed away at the age of 79 on a sunny Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in Huntsville. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Roland (“Roly”) Tambosso (December 2013) and the mother of Nathanielle (“Lori Jean”) McDonald of Victoria and the late Andrew McDonald (May 2022) of Keswick. Jean leaves behind her sisters Helen Copping (late James) of Cambridge and Yvonne McNeice of Vancouver and was pre-deceased by her brother Ron McNeice (June 2020).

Jean and Roly spent many years as cottagers at Rose Lake in Utterson and eventually settled permanently in Huntsville in the late ‘90s.

Jean was a caregiver to children while living in Thornhill and later was housekeeping staff at various resorts in the Huntsville area. Jean was an animal lover and at one point had a dog, a cat and a bird that flew into her home. She enjoyed gardening (particularly growing her cosmos), puzzles and crafts- she was the painter of all of Roly’s garden décor projects. She loved all holidays and exuberantly decorated the inside and outside of her home leaving no surface untouched. She was a friend to her neighbours both at the cottage and at home. She was particularly close to her cousin Gladys Bateman and family of Nipissing and her dear friends Don and Kay Perry of Huntsville. A special thank you is extended to Gladys who constantly kept Jean company while she spent the last four months of her life at Huntsville Hospital and the Algonquin Grace Hospice. Jean also had a special place in her heart for Linda Raeburn, Ashley and Devin Bernotas. Jean will be sorely missed by all those she leaves behind.

In accordance with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Huntsville (21 Veteran’s Way) on Saturday, October 7 at 12:30 p.m. Please rsvp Deborah Pigeon Bernotas at dpigeonbernotas@gmail.com ( 416-986-8723 ) if you plan to attend. If anyone wishes, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation or the Algonquin Grace Hospice whose staff took great care of Jean in her final months, the Canadian Cancer Society, Huntsville or the SPCA, Huntsville.
