Rumney, Madeline “Joyce”

In her 93rd year, passed away peacefully at the Huntsville Hospice, Ontario on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021. Joyce is survived by her six children Jean (Ivars), Keith (Lee), Dalton Mark, Bruce, Kathryn (Brian) and James (Susi). Grandmother of Christian, Jesse, Eva, Erin, Tyler, Sean, Gabriel, Meghan, Joel, Lexi, Pam, Bailey and Dylan. Great-grandmother of Vizma, Levon, Adreianna, Blake, Bennet, Liam, Quinn, Arianna, Hunter, Dezeray, Willow, and William. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband Philip Rumney on September 20th 2021.  Also by sisters Kathleen, Marion and brother Ron.  She is survived by sister Jean in Australia. Joyce was the youngest daughter of Roland and Eva (nee Davies) Healey.  She was born in Toronto, Ontario and married Philip in 1953, raising their 6 children in Victoria Square, Ontario in the house that Philip built on the family dairy farm. Joyce worked as a graphic artist in downtown Toronto upon her graduation from Northern Vocational. She passed her artistic skills and love of design onto her children. Many life long friendships were created with people of all ages. She lived life with a fierce spirit and a will to do and make. Her love language was hand crafted treasures and letters. She had great organizational skills and was involved in a variety of groups and organizations over the years (e.g. Girl Guides of Canada, was one of the founding members of the Markham Guild of Village Crafts, and was active in the Victoria Square and Port Sydney UCW). Joyce and Phil moved to Huntsville in January of 2013, and split their time between their beloved condo and the Rumney heritage homestead in Port Sydney. Joyce’s passing occurred 4 days prior to what would have been Joyce and Phil’s 68th wedding anniversary. As Joyce and Phil are eternally reunited their loving family have been picturing them splitting their time between scrabble games and “dancing with the stars”. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Huntsville medical community and staff of the Huntsville Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. In Joyce’s memory donations may be made to the Hospice Huntsville/Algonquin Grace organization.
