STIRLING, Marilyn Jean
August 13, 1932-September 13, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marilyn Stirling, at the age of 90, with her family by her side, at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Marilyn is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Russell George Stirling. Loving Mother of Vicki MacNaughton (Ron), Shelley Stirling, and Mark Stirling (Sonja). Devoted Grandmother of Ashley Lavechia (Chad), Mitchell Bye, Russell Stirling and Hailey Stirling. Proud Great Grandmother of Eleana, Denver, Lawson, Walker and Jett. Sister of Pat Smith (Clare), Shirley Norrie (Jim) and Judy Smith (Lorne). Survived by her brother-in-law Gordon Stirling (Billie). Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Ralph and Laura Fink, Marilyn was born and raised in Scotland, Ontario, along with her three sisters. Marilyn married Russell Stirling of Waterdown, Ontario, where they lived and raised their three children. Ready to retire, Marilyn and Russ moved to Kearney, to the cottage they built and loved together on Emsdale Lake and then later in life, settled in Huntsville.
Marilyn lived her life to the fullest and family meant everything to her, including her cats and dogs. She had a passion for travel, golf, snowmobiling, sewing, cooking and entertaining. Marilyn volunteered with the Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary and helped with many fundraising events. Marilyn was always found socializing with her circle of many dear friends from both Waterdown and Huntsville.
The family would like to thank the team at Huntsville Hospital for her care during these last number of months. A special thank you to Dr. Kirkpatrick and Kris-Lynn for their exceptional care. As per Marilyn’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Service will be held at Huntsville’s Trinity United Church on September 30, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at the Algonquin Theatre in The Partners Hall. As an expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marilyn to Huntsville Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
