JANKE, Lynnette (Lynne) Irene
March 17, 1946 ~ March 18, 2022
Lynne fought pancreatic cancer with a brave fight of two and a half years. Our family is devastated by the loss of her never ending smile, positivity, and kindness for others. She came by this naturally in her nursing career spanning over 45 years at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and for most of her life and Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville. She volunteered tirelessly at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 232) in the women's auxiliary, ceremonial marching and preparing meals. The Huntsville Presbyterian Church was also a well known place to find her on Sundays and volunteering. Lynne would assist anyone asking for help, needing support or just an ear to listen. She always made time for her family and friends, no matter the calling. She was well known for breaking out dancing if a good song was heard (Footloose was a fave), exercising, cross country skiing or walking her heart out at the Community Centre and track. In fact she would most likely run rings around anyone else she was around. In saying this, she took the announcement of her illness with valiant efforts and got to know staff no matter which hospital, Huntsville, RVH in Barrie, and Princess Margaret in Toronto. She truly put other people first before herself. Lynne loved to travel. She gallivanted whenever she could get away. She grew up with her father in the military and started with travel at Base Borden, North Bay, Manitoba and France. Finally settling in Toronto and later Huntsville. However, her thirst for travel continued where she always found time to trot the globe with her Mother and sisters wherever she could get vacation time or settle at her family cottage since childhood in Innisfil.
With her final travel date of March 18, 2022, Lynne left behind her loving husband Ed (Janke) her daughter Dana Cuff and son-in-law Mark, and her grandchildrenTyler, Ryan and Mackenzie. Her son, Dennis Cuff as well as her sisters Lee and Georgina and extended family of nephews, nieces and cousins who were so much a part of her life. Predeceased by parents Betty (nee Jewison) and John (Jack) Robertson. Lynne also leaves a hole in the Janke family whom she was a part of for the last 25 years. Mark, Mike and Karen, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be missing her tremendously.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 232 in Huntsville. Those wishing to donate on her behalf, can be made to: Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Hospice Huntsville or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
