GREEN, Laverne Orval

It is with great sadness that the family of Laverne Green of Huntsville announce his passing. Laverne passed away July 1, 2023 at his home. Laverne was the son of the late Orval and Agnes Green of Huntsville. He was brother to Bev (Don), Jim (Sheila), the late Bonnie (David) and Marvin (Joyce). Laverne was the loving husband to the late Carol Green. He was the most wonderful and supportive Father. Laverne and Carol shared five daughters, Kathy Jo (Rick), Cathy (Rob), Bobbi Jo (Grant), the late Billie Jo (Hardy), and Angie (Shane).  He was the best grandfather to Brittney, Matthew, Mikayla, Noah, Dominick, Aaron, Tyler, Lexi and Alyna and he was the great grandfather to William. Laverne was born June 5, 1949. He was a mechanic and hot rod builder for many years out of his garage, Gator's Rod Shop. Laverne lived for his family, and found great pleasure in camping in Algonquin park with his family, working on vehicles, and tinkering with fixing things. He lived to fish and he loved doing drag racing, demolition derbies and raced his stock car many years as Gator #12 at Barrie Speedway and other assorted local tracks. If you didn't know Laverne, you probably still knew of his bright yellow American Graffiti replica coupe that he built. Laverne loved to attend car shows. Laverne was a gentle soul who was an animal protector and over the years enjoyed the wild animals that visited his backyard, he fostered some  and he was a pet dad to many. Laverne will be forever loved and missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Bear With Us in Sprucedale, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Rosseau or The Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Our family wishes to invite everyonel to a celebration of life for both Laverne and Carol at his brothers home located at 907 Muskoka Rd 3 North on July 15, 2023 from 1 to 4. Snacks and refreshments will be served.  Please bring your own chairs if you have them and if you have a hot rod or nice ride, please show up in it! Let's give Laverne and Carol their very own car show!
