van den HEUVEL, Karel
Karel (Charlie) van den Heuvel, at the age of 72, passed suddenly on Sunday, March 20th, 2022. He was doing what he loved, where he loved to do it, on Lake Vernon just outside of Huntsville, ON.
Survived by his former wife and mother of his children: Carolyn van den Heuvel; his beloved children: Jeremy (Stephanie), Terri-Lynn (Sam), Kristopher, Amy (Tim); his precious grandchildren: Georgia, Victoria and Ryker, Ash and James, Hunter and Olivia; his sister and brothers: Toni, John, Leo, Jerry, Joe, Bill and Bernie; and his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents: Karel and Helen van den Heuvel; and his brother: Martin van den Heuvel.
To know Charlie, was a great privilege. His take it or leave it attitude was balanced by his genuine heart. His stubbornness and determination complimented his constant drive and work ethic. He loved to hear a good story but loved even more to tell one, (sometimes more than once). He loved adventures and the simple things in life. His favorites being a clear sky, bright moon, sunsets, and the sounds of the outdoors. He was a true family man who welcomed everyone with open arms and always lent an ear. He wasn’t just a father figure to his own children but to many others who needed his comfort. He would light up in the presence of his grandchildren and they would do the same when he entered the room. He had many friends, old and new, who will be eternally impacted by his love, humor, loyalty, and tough exterior. He was a staple, a reliable fixture, a constant, the glue…our hero. He will be forever loved and remembered.
Charlie’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday April 1, 2022, at The Hepworth Room located in the Marritt Hall building located at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Road South, Jerseyville, Ontario from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a memorial at 6:00 p.m.
