JORDAN, John Merlyn
It is with great sadness that we bring news of the passing of John "Merlyn" Jordan. A devoted and loving husband to Lorraine (nee Bonazza) of 63 years. A kind and generous father to his children Terry (Linda) and Debbie (Adrian). A legendary man and an excellent role model, Merlyn will be missed by his adoring five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Merlyn also leaves his younger brother Don (Theresa).
Merlyn spent 31 years as a police officer for the Ferris and City of North Bay Police Services. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1994.
His many stories and accomplishments did not go unnoticed, and Terry followed in his footsteps, now also a retired Police Staff Sergeant. Debbie obtained her teaching degree and after her early years in Moosonee, settled in Ottawa and just retired after a long and satisfying career.
Merle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and to garden. Later in years, Merle could be found with his trusty dog at his side.
Despite his courageous spirit, he peacefully succumbed to his health challenges on Sunday, August 20th, 2023, with his wife Lorraine still caring for him up to his last moments.
A Funeral Mass and Reception will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Huntsville, Ontario. Reception to follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers donations to Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.
