John Fabricius

September 15, 1943 — May 4, 2019

FABRICIUS, John

John passed away after a long battle with cancer on May 4, 2019 at Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice, surrounded by family. John is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Martha Fabricius (Friesen) of Huntsville, son Clint Fabricius (Staci Webb), grandchildren: Peter, Courtney and Jackson all of Huntsville, daughter Carey Fabricius (Mike Crewson of Huntsville, brother Per Fabricius (Jane) of British Columbia, sisters Joan (Fred) Nitsch and Annette Fabricius of British Columbia. Predeceased by his parents Knud and Grete Fabricius, laid to rest in British Columbia.

John was born in Horsens, Denmark and in 1957 he immigrated to Canada with his parents, sister Joan and brother Per. His sister Annette was later born in Canada. The family settled in Hamilton and from that moment on John was a Canadian and he never looked back to Denmark, other than to hold on to some ideals of the old Norse traditions.

John met the love of his life, Martha, in Hamilton in 1965 and they married in 1967. Johns Viking nature made him always look for adventure, so in 1976, with two young children in tow, he and Martha moved to Otter Lake Road, Huntsville, an un maintained road that led to the lot on the lake that they would build their life on. He had a great love of the outdoors and adventure. He loved to camp, canoe and fish and he shared his love of those things with his family.

John worked through the years at Dynes Electric in Hamilton, RED-D-ARC in Hamilton and once in Huntsville - Domtar, now Panolam, where he retired from as a millwright.

The family would like to thank the dedicated team that was there with him throughout his journey. Notably, his home care nurse Sue Colavecchia (a very special lady), KT Thompson, Dr. Stacey Ervin and Dr. Rebecca Kent, Dr. Deb Harrold, palliative care nurses Susan Mcgee and Norma Connolly, Dr. K. Russell at RVH and all the beautiful staff at Algonquin Grace Hospice - THANK YOU.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like all donations to go to Hospice Huntsville. Messages of condolence can be left at www.billingsleyfuneralhome.com
