Margaret Isobel House (nee Fraser)
February 25, 1921 to January 22, 2022
Isobel passed away peacefully at Muskoka Landing in Huntsville on January 22, 2022 in her 101st year.
Predeceased by her husband Norman Ord House and her son-in-law Mack Capel. Loving mother of Ron (Lois) and Kathy House. Grandmother of Kris (Jocelyn), Kara (Andy), Lisa and Brant (Nicole). Great-grandmother of Justin, Bryce, Logan, Malique, Kendra and Audrey. Predeceased by her brother Douglas Fraser (Opal) and sister June Frazer (George).
Isobel was born and grew up in the village of Cheltenham. She was very active in the United Church where she played the organ, piano and sang in the choir. She was a school teacher in Caledon in a one-room school, and at the Duke of Connaught in Toronto. Her Grade 7 boys choir won the Toronto Championship and she accompanied their performance in Massey Hall. Isobel taught piano and tutored students for many years. She was the ultimate teacher of English Grammar.
In the 80s she and Norm moved to Brampton. Isobel made many good friends wherever she went. She was a volunteer at Peel Memorial Hospital for 30 years and was active in the UCW, Probus and several bridge clubs. Isobel & Norm enjoyed cottage life in Muskoka and winters in Florida for many years. They traveled to several destinations abroad, in the Caribbean and the US. In 2012 she moved to Huntsville. In her 90s she embraced technology, having a cellphone and emailing friends on her computer.
She and her sister June shared a special friendship throughout their lives. Isobel will be remembered for her great musical talents and being a special friend to so many.
