Ellen Clara Delay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen Clara Delay (nee Zabor) on March 13, 2025, at her home in Port Syndey at the age of 90.

Ellen was born February 13, 1935, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents Ellen and Peter Zabor, and her brother Peter. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Guy Delay; siblings, Dorthy (d. Ian), Janice (John), and Jack and sister-in-law Debbie.

Ellen was a devoted wife of 71 years to Raymond and was a loving mom to 8 beautiful children: the late Dwayne, Linda (Darryl), David, Gary (Cindy), Ruthann (d. Pat), Cheryl (d. George), Brenda (Mike), and Michael (Trish).

Grandmother to 19 children; Gregory (Lisa), Nicole (Dean), Ashley (Craig), Jon (Colleen), Jordan (Jessica), Jared (Cailyn), Jacob (Nicky), Julia (Ryan), Daniel (Kerri), Michele (Brandon), Brittnie, Elisse (Paul), Trae (Casey), Courtney (Ian), Candice (Riley), Caitlynn (Wes), Michael JR. (Amanda), Megan, Madison (Madi).

Great Grandmother to 39 children and a Great-Great-Grandmother to 2.

Ellen had various hobbies and interests. She was an amateur radio operator (VA3 ECD), enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, cooking, and word searches. She also had a passion for travel, camping, nature, and wildlife.

Ellen was the most loving, caring, generous, passionate, and patient daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, nanna, grandmother, cousin and dear friend! Her selflessness and dedication to her family and friends will be unmatched. She dedicated her whole life to caring for those around her. Her kindness, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers because of her love for children, memorial donations can be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who touched Ellen's life. Her legacy of love and care will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her.

Visitation will take place on March 21, 2025, at Billingsley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.

We would like to welcome family and friends to join us for a reception after the service at 541 Stephenson Rd. 2 East, Port Sydney, ON.
