POTTER, Douglas Charles

Doug passed away on June 17, 2021 in Huntsville in his 82nd year. He was the eldest of 12 children born to Beatrice "Bet" and Douglas "Duke" Potter of London Ontario.

He is the brother of Judith, Bryan (dec.), Larry (dec.), Nick (dec.), Linda, Mike, Kim, Don, Jill, Terry and Betty Jane.  He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years Arlene (nee Sipprell) and his brother-in-law Bill Sipprell (Suzanne dec.) and their children.  Also surviving  him are many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews from the Potter family and the Sipprell family.

Doug was a long time teacher with the Scarborough Board of Education.  He was an avid skier.  Shortly after their marriage, Doug built a pan-abode in Hidden Valley.  The skills he learned there were beneficial when they moved to their cottage on Peninsula Lake.  In addition to dock and deck building and repairs, Doug was an avid reader.  He was a member of the Probus Club of Muskoka.  His interests over the years included photography, wine making, bird feeding and especially wood working.  Upon retirement, the cottage became our home.

For the last number of years, Doug suffered with Dementia and for the last three months of his life Doug was cared for by the kind staff at Fairvern Nursing Home.  As per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place.  Family will have an occasion to remember Doug at a future time.
