"Doris" Maria Dolores (Wismayer) Campbell

Maria Dolores (Doris) Campbell passed away at home in Huntsville, Ontario on July 3, 2022 after a brief illness. Doris was born August 1, 1928 in Cospicqua, Malta to Hector and Marie Elizabeth (nee Shaw) Wismayer. She is survived by brothers Henry (Ernie – deceased), Albert (Joan) and Don (Norma – deceased) as well as sister Grace (Doug Lane – deceased) and sister-in-law Vivian (Edwin – deceased). Doris was “Auntie Doris” to numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by brothers and their wives Joseph (Rose), Victor (Ketta), Johnny (Dagney), Alex (Ketta), Louis (Colleen) and sister Evelyn.

Doris spent her childhood in Malta and, after enduring the hardships of World War II and spending some time as a teacher, moved to Canada in 1951. She settled in Toronto, working at the Bank of Commerce, Canadian Tire and retiring from AG Baird. Doris enjoyed travelling - returning to Malta several times as well as journeying across Canada and visiting parts of the United States. Doris spent the last 30 years in Huntsville. She enjoyed visiting with her family, reading, and keeping a tidy house. Doris will be remembered for her gentle manner, devotion to her faith and ever stylish dress.

A service with mass will be held on Saturday July 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Huntsville. Internment at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery and a reception at the Church will follow. Donations can be made to a charity of choice.
