Doreen Anne (Woodruff) Allen

Doreen Anne Allen passed away at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Monday, May 1, 2023 after a very brief illness.  Doreen was born April 23, 1933 to parents Norm and Eva (Ennest) Woodruff.  She was predeceased by her husband Robert Allen (2006) and Son Ricky (1963).  Survived by sons Don of Berwick NS and Steve (Vicki) of Sault St. Marie, ON, and grandchildren Brian, Bradley, Robin, Rachel, and great grandson Bailey.

Mom had worked at Braund’s Drug Store, The Variety Shop, Huntsville Discount Drugs, and the Salvation Army Food Bank.  She very much enjoyed her coworkers and meeting and helping people.

Mom had just celebrated her 90th birthday, a big celebration.  She enjoyed visiting with her sons and daughter-in-law, along with spa treatments, special meals in restaurants, and revisiting special places in Huntsville and surrounding area.

For the past seven years she lived at Muskoka Traditions Retirement Residence.  Thank you to the kind staff who made it so enjoyable for her.  She tried her best to show her appreciation to all those who cared for her by providing treats.

Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses and Paramedics at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for all the care and compassion they provided.  Special thanks to Dr. Jewell and Dr. Reid.  We would also like to thank Dr. John Eastmure for his care of Mom over the years.

At her request, cremation has occurred, interment later in the Hutcheson Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the Billingsley Funeral Home.

Memorial donations can be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers.
