With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Dan Bombier, our brother, son, spouse, father, cousin and friend. Born on May 30, 1972, Danny's fun-loving, generous and adventurous spirit touched and enriched the lives of those lucky to have met him. He leaves us far too soon and with a deep void in our hearts.
Danny's zest for life was partnered with his abiding love for Lake of Bays and Little Hawk Lake. He was happiest skipping across the sparkling waves in his motorboat as the sun began to set, or in the company of friends and family on canoe-trips with fishing rod in hand. These trips always seemed to hover on the verge of disaster from his zany antics. And oh how he loved to laugh - especially at himself! Danny welcomed any chance to pull out his guitar and belt out songs around the fire in his rich baritone voice. And like his father, he was game for any adventure, including jumping in a dinghy to tackle raging rapids at the Hogg’s Trough on the Oxtongue River, conquering the West Coast trail, snowmobiling, slalom waterskiing and adventure skiing in Banff. We lost track of how many lives Dan had already survived.
Dan’s love of adventure extended to travels around the world including Central America, Europe, Morocco, Thailand and Argentina. He mastered the Spanish language and completed a degree in International Trade and Global Logistics at Fleming College. Dan found a perfect fit for these skills in the tea business, as he could travel and engage with clients in Spanish, sipping cups of mate on their tea plantations in Argentina. They too will not forget his generous heart, wit and lust for life.
At the center of Dan's world was his daughter, Piper, who filled him with deep pride and whom he adored beyond measure. In addition to Piper and his steadfast and supportive wife Brooke, Dan is predeceased by his father Ray and survived by his loving siblings Laura and Bruce, his beloved mother Rosemary and Uncle Jim and cousins Toby, Nina and Ben. He was so loved.
Danny's spirit and passion for nature will continue to live on and inspire us to embrace life for all the adventures it provides. As we say goodbye to Danny, we take solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature that he so dearly loved.
