After a courageous 19-year battle with cancer, Brian Andrew Wilson of Huntsville Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2019 in his 65th year, surrounded by his family at Algonquin Grace Hospice.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Freda Wilson of Haileybury, Ontario and his twin sons, Kristopher and Geoffrey. Brian is survived by his loving wife Norah (nee Eckensviller) of 43 years, his children, Andrea (Kyle) Shirtliff, Gregory (Lindsay) Wilson, and Ashleigh (Braden) Hill, and his grandchildren; Keegan, Ethan, Sawyer, Myer and Layla. As a father and grandfather, Brian was patient, he mentored and encouraged them to only be the best version of themselves.
Brian had a great love for his family, sports, and the outdoors. He could often be found around a fire with cigar, puttering in his gardens or playing ProLine. Brian always looked forward to his annual football trip to Buffalo with his son and friends.
Brian worked as a Probation and Parole Officer for 44 years. Brian’s dedication, passion and with support from his co-workers allowed him to continue working up until three weeks before his passing.
A special thank you to the palliative care team of doctors, nurses with the staff at Closing the Gap for providing dedicated and compassionate care during his journey. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards the staff and volunteers at Algonquin Grace Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday August 8th, 2019 at the Grandview Golf Club in the Mark O’Meara Ballroom. Family and friends are invited to drop in between the hours of 1:00-6:00 pm.
