Blake William Walker went to his Heavenly Home peacefully on Friday, April 11, in the Huntsville Hospital, after several months of ill health.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of sixty years, Roxieanne, his precious children, Karen (Ian), Nancy (Marc), Stephen (Myriam), and six grandchildren, Becca, Sarah, Sam (Danielle), Abi, Heidi, Lilly-Rose, and great grandson, Joshua. He will also be greatly missed by brothers David, Paul (Bernace), sister Rosemary, and his wonderful nieces and nephews and their families.
Blake was born in Toronto and was predeceased by his father, Jim Walker and mother Betty (Robson) Walker.
After graduation from Forest Hill Collegiate, Blake went on to graduate from University College in Toronto, followed by theology training in Oxford, U.K. and Knox College Toronto. He also received a Master’s degree from the Pontifical Institute in Toronto.
In 1964 he married Roxieanne Joy and they began their life together in Strasbourg, France where Blake did his post graduate work on John Calvin. Following this, he pastored churches in Christ Church Wabush, Labrador, Knox Toronto, Alderwood Etobicoke, and then served for twenty-four years in St. Andrew’s Sherbrooke, Quebec.
After a year of part time ministry in Montreal, he and Roxieanne retired to Huntsville, Ontario where they were very happy in that beautiful community, which is also near the family cottage.
If you would like to make a donation in Blake’s memory, Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship, Cancer Research Society, or Fonds des Millepattes would be appreciated or a charity that is close to your heart.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 pm, April 17 at St. Andrew’s Church, Huntsville. The family will be at the church at 1 pm to receive any who would like to visit. Blake’s wish would be that his Saviour would be glorified at this service.
