Audlee Tredgett

As Roland Cilliers of the Forester said, in an article in 2018," to call Audlee Tredgett a local celebrity is a bit of an understatement."

Audlee was from Toronto originally, grew up in Orillia at HRC, and came to Huntsville in 1987, but not without the concerns of his family and friends, that a community may take advantage of his gentle nature. Once he settled into his own apartment, group living was not his thing, and neither was a sheltered workshop, so he found work in the community, he began to thrive. And thrive, and thrive he did. Until he became a local celebrity. He was passionate about people, he needed to be among them, greeting them and catching up. He loved his church, and all the people in the church, old and new, and participated in all activities going on. He was an active church member, and held honored roles in the church.

He loved sports, and the Otters, all the Otters, and was at all the games and practices, and cheered them on. He participated in Special Olympics, bowling, Rotary, he was on the Board of Directors for Community Living Huntsville, he played piano and drums at church any chance he could, contributed to church bulletins and services whenever he could, and became very familiar with the radio stations. He made friends wherever he went, and always remembered their names and birthdays. He attended all the activities in Huntsville, and was fully present and participating in music groups and dances, cheering on dance troupes, and artists, and visitors, concerts and parades.

AS Grant Nickalls, friend of Audlee's, said, "Audlee is a community driven person, one of the people who makes you feel like he's been waiting for you all day!"

We are all richer for having known him, and blessed to have called him friend.

Audlee is survived by his sister Lynda Davis, nephew Ralph Fish, niece Patty Lynn. He died peacefully Saturday March 23, 2019 at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
